The landscape shifted in July 1976, as an amendment to the Sindh University Act led to the institution's designation as an additional campus of the University of Sindh, presided over by a Pro-Vice Chancellor. Subsequently, on the 15th of March in 1977, an ordinance propelled the additional campus into the echelons of a fully-fledged university. Thus, the Mehran University of Engineering and Technology, Nawabshah, came into being, brought forth by an act sanctioned by the Provincial Assembly. In the year 1980, Mehran University of Engineering and Technology transitioned its locus to Jamshoro, leading to the transformation of the Nawabshah campus into a constituent college, aptly renamed Mehran University College of Engineering and Technology (MUCET), Nawabshah. By the 7th of August, 1996, MUCET attained university status through an ordinance and subsequently via an act enacted by the Sindh Assembly, hence christened as Quaid-e-Awam University of Engineering, Science and Technology (QUEST), Nawabshah. This university holds accreditation from esteemed bodies such as the Higher Education Commission (HEC) and the Pakistan Engineering Council (PEC), while also being a member of the Association of Commonwealth Universities.
Encompassing a sprawling expanse of 457 acres adjacent to Nawabshah airport, Quaid-e-Awam University of Engineering, Science and Technology (QUEST) is characterized by three academic precincts. Central to the campus is the Central Library, a hub of comprehensive resources accessible seven days a week. The campus also encompasses a meticulously designed residential enclave, catering to faculty members, officers, and staff, ensuring uninterrupted power supply. Additionally, Engineering College Larkano, originally a constituent college, underwent elevation and transformation, emerging as QUEST Campus Larkano in 2018. As it continues to unfurl its multifaceted growth, QUEST persists as a dynamic crucible of erudition and innovation in the realms of engineering and technology.
